  • To be an organisation that is focused on constantly improving the service offered with input and feedback from our staff, suppliers and clients.
  • To protect the environment, respect our surroundings and to adopt the necessary measures to prevent and reduce the contamination resulting from our business activity, implementing effective management of any waste produced and good practice based upon our sustainability criteria and the effective use of resources.
  • To act with moral integrity, loyalty and respect for others, exceeding the requirements and standards set out by current legislation.
  • To provide maximum safety levels and guarantee the continuous adaptation of facilities and processes.
  • To commit on a social level to the local environment in Majorca and the Balearic Islands and to comply with all legal and other requisites applicable.

The Bierkönig environmental policy facilitates the framework of our environmental objectives.

WHAT IS BIERKÖNIG DOING TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT?

Bierkönig has made a firm commitment to social and environmental policy and our goal is to reduce our impact on the environment and to preserve our natural resources. For this reason, we would like to explain everything that we do for the environment.

MANAGING CONTAMINATION AND WASTE PRODUCTS

Separating waste products for recycling.

Being aware of the noise we generate.

Ensuring dangerous waste is collected by authorised waste management companies to be dealt with safely and correctly.

We use recyclable jugs made from SAN, better for the environment.

We recycle glass, metal, plastic and used paper at our facilities.

We have placed rubbish bins right next to each toilet to prevent clients flushing any rubbish down the toilet.

WE SAVE WATER

Filters are fitted to the taps.

We water the plants and garden in the early morning or evening to avoid evaporation.

WE SAVE ENERGY

We make the most of natural light.

We use automated switches and light sensors in corridors and cloakrooms.

We use energy efficient lightbulbs. Temperatures are controlled by thermostats.

We check meter readings every day in order to detect any possible leaks or excessive consumption.

WE PURCHASE WITH THE ENVIRONMENT IN MIND

We buy large volume containers in order to reduce waste.

We are reducing the use of toxic products.

We prioritise local produce in order to reduce the use of motorised transport.

WHAT HAVE WE DONE IN 2018 AND 2019 TO HELP PROTECT OUR PLANET?

During 2018 we recycled 300 tonnes of glass. In 2019 we have already recycled 19% more glass.

During 2018 we recycled 60 tonnes of paper and cardboard. In 2019 we have already recycled 2% more than last year.

During 2018 we recycled 13 tonnes of plastic. In 2019 we have already recycled 55% more plastic.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP US?

Don’t waste water, turn off taps and use the regulated flush. Please inform staff if you detect any problem with the taps or cisterns.

Ask staff not to give you plastic straws.

Don’t use stickers at our facilities, it’s a waste of paper.

Plastic wrapping from T-shirts should be placed in the yellow bins or be given to staff to dispose of.

Unauthorised removal of posters or menus results in an additional environmental cost in paper.
